Level 1 CrossFit Coach
Level 1 USA Weightlifting Certified Sports Performance Coach

Born in Amarillo, Tx on May 19, 1967 and move to Portland in 1969, so basically I have lived in Portland my entire life. My high school career consisted of Football and Track & Field. I was fortunate enough to further my athletic career in college where I pole vaulted for Southern Methodist University my first 2 years before transferring to Texas A&M University where I finished up my college career in 1990. During college I was a 4 time All American, part of a National Championship team at SMU, school record holder at both SMU and Texas A&M, and Southwest Conference champion 1988.

After college I continued my vaulting career professionally where I got to travel all over the world competing with the worlds best athletes. As a professional I was on contract with Reebok, qualified for 1988 and 1992 Olympic Trials, competed in the Masters of the Vault 1993, won the 1993 USA indoor National Championship, and competed on a World Championship team in 1993 where I finished 7th place. My career best jump is 18’9 ¾.

I got married to my wife Holli in 1993 and we have two girls Whitney 15 and Mackenzie 12 who both are very active in sports as well. Through the years I have had opportunity to coach many different kids in basketball and pole vaulting. I have coached kids pole vaulting ever since I retired from the sport myself. I have coached many kids to many different titles from district championships to State Championships. Basketball wise we are working at trying to develop the future by giving these kids playing time in the summer by traveling all over the state and even out of state playing in tournaments. We travel with the older girls to all the major tournaments where they will play in front of 40+ scouts per game trying to promote them for college.

Most of the kids in the world today don’t receive the opportunity to be the best they can be at whatever they want to be good at, and that is where Crossfit and staff will come into play. I myself have done Crossfit training for almost a year now. During this time I have lost 25 lbs., cut my blood pressure medicine, and feel unbelievable. I truly believe that if I would have had Crossfit back when I was pole vaulting there is no telling how high I would have jumped.

Remember, you can make any dream come true all you have to do is dream it hard enough. DREAM BIG cause big dreams do come true!
