Josh

Level 1 USA Weightlifting Certified Sports Performance Coach

I was born in Pineville, Louisiana but raised in Rockport, Texas since I was 6 years old. Growing up as the youngest of 4 boys and all ways being the smallest was more of a “survival of the fittest” as they would say and relying on the instinct of climb this, jump over that, and crawl through here were all the instincts I used to get away from the older brothers (little did I know that would come into play later on).

So fast forwarding to High school I graduated in 2004 and played mostly Soccer as sports is concerned. I spent 4 years not really having any direction of what to do after High School until I met my wife Shea and knew I had to do something. Soooo BAM! Military it was. I went to the Coast Guard in 2008 and in 2009 we had our crime fighting super hero of a son Gavin. That’s when fitness kicked in cause I always wanted to be able to keep up with him. I started going to the gym religiously and soon became the typical “gym rat”. I kept searching for something that was more challenging for the body and didn’t just focus on isolated movements. In 2011 my parents health was in a bad way and I quickly got out and moved back to help them out while doing so my wife joined this “crossfit gym” and would not stop talking about how I should just go check it out one time. Well I finally gave in one Friday evening and low and behold “Tired Fran” was knocking at my door. Needless to say I have found what I was searching for. Climb this rope; Box jumps that, Bear crawl over here!!! About six months into this “crossfit” something just clicked and I found myself rushing from work to do WOD’s, getting excited about PR’s, and evaluating movements and technique. The love and addiction for being healthy and fit came to light and I can say now that I will never stop and I do in fact blame my wife.

I love seeing others be able to do a pull that has never done it before, lift a weight they have never thought possible, and overcome what seemed to be unattainable. Coaching has been the thing I never thought I could ever do, but somehow it became what I should’ve been doing all along. Know that you were meant for more because…

If you can’t excel with talent, triumph with effort and become legendary.
