April Athlete of the Month: PAIGE SMITH

Let’s hear from Paige Smith, our second awardee for April Athlete of the month:

When I came to crossfit, I came unwillingly. If I recall correctly I came kicking and screaming. I had a group of friends who were trying everything to convince me to give it a try. I was scared to death because I had no idea what to expect, but I also thought the people doing Crossfit had to be crazy. I had been sitting at the community center pool the entire summer, watching them workout during the heat of the day outside in the parking lot. They were doing crazy things like rowing and walking lunges with weights over their heads. I thought to myself, “What kind of nut would subject themselves to that kind of torture?” My friends continued to talk to me and try to convince me to at least give it a try. It was several week before I finally had the to courage to walk through the door and give it a try. That’s when I found out what kind of nut would subject themelves to that kind of torture, because I became one of those nuts. Walking through that door was one of the best decisons I have ever made. Crossfit has been one of the most challenging life style changes I have made, and it has changed me in more ways than I ever thought possible. I have gotten stronger and I have lifted more than I ever dreamed I could lift. I have tried things I would never have tried had I not been a part of Crossfit and trusted the people who were telling me to at least try, because they had the confidence in me that I didn’t have in myself. I have conquered many fears, and I have pushed myself further than I thought I could go and realized that I could still go further. Each day at Crossfit is a new day and a new opportunity to be better than you were the day before. 2 1/2 years later I am very grateful to those people who convinced me to give it a try. I’m also grateful for all the people I have met at Crossfit who push me when I don’t think I can go any further. Big thanks to Molly, Zeph, Greg, Ryan, Ashley, Jason, and April for your dedication to coaching and setting the bar high and pushing each of us to meet those high standards. Thanks to each of you for taking time away from your families to be there for us everyday.
