December Athlete of the Month: Danielle Littleton

Danielle Littleton
December 2012 Athlete of the Month

If you would’ve asked me a year and a half ago if I liked to work out I would’ve laughed in your face and called you crazy! If you ask me today I would say that I couldn’t imagine my life without working out and more specifically without CrossFit XLR8! I was introduced to CrossFit 4 ½ years ago by my husband, Heath, my brother in law, aka the Hulk, as he likes to call himself & father in law. I was pregnant with our first son, Hoss, when Heath joined the XLR8 family. So while he was getting into the best shape of his life and the pounds seemed to be melting off of him I was steadily gaining what he was losing, which turned out to be a grand total of 60 lbs!!!! As the months (years) went on CrossFit became the main discussion at every family function and without fail one of them would always say “Danielle you should come to the gym” my response was always “ha ha yeah right”.

In July 2011 we flew to California to watch Zeph compete in the World Games. I don’t know what happened while we were there, but something clicked and for the first time ever I wanted to workout. August 8, 2011 was the “big day”! My first wod and I survived! As the days and weeks went on I noticed that my lifestyle was beginning to change. I was eating better, losing weight and felt the best I felt in a long time. I found myself doing things that I NEVER imagined I could do. I was lifting weight that I never thought possible and pretty soon I was doing the RX workouts!

All the coaches, members, and workouts are amazing. I finally figured out why the “fam” was constantly talking about CrossFit! It was AWESOME! If it weren’t for Molly telling me that I was a lot stronger than what I thought I probably wouldn’t be here today. Which is, 8 ½ months pregnant still doing pull ups and as of yesterday completed “Fight Gone Bad”!!! Thanks to Crossfit XLR8 and all the wonderful coaches I still weigh less than what I did when I got pregnant with Hoss and feel the best I have ever felt in my entire life. We will be welcoming our 2 nd son ,Wyatt, in February and my plan is to continue working out and doing pull ups up to my due date! Thanks again to everyone for your awesome words of encouragement and support!
