Wild Planet Canned Tuna – Portable Paleo!

In a recent trip to Sun Harvest, I stumbled across this brand of canned tuna. I thought I’d give it a try since it looked like a great source of Omega-3 Fatty Acids, it used wild fish instead of farmed, it was no salt added, and it is cooked in the can in it’s own juices and fats, eliminating the need to pack it in water or olive oil.

This stuff is absolutely AMAZING! It is hands down the best tuna I’ve ever tasted. It is super moist, and not “watered down” at all. The fact that I’m getting about 1/3 of my daily Omega 3 requirements in each can is an added bonus too!

It is a little pricey ($3.79 per can), but I figure that I would pay more than that for a good wild-caught fish fillet, and then I’d still have to cook it!

Another great thing about these cans is that they have the “easy open” lids (like a soda can), so they are great for days that you have to be on the road or traveling. Pick up a side salad at Wendy’s, pop open a can of this tuna, and “Wa-La” – instant filling Paleo Lunch or Dinner!

If you have more time on your hands and want a “gourmet” salad, you could whip one up in a flash. Just combine the following ingredients:

Baby Spinach or Mixed Green Salad Base

Tomatoes, Onions, Mushrooms, Broccoli Florets (or your favorite salad veggies)

Avocado & HB Egg

Then add 1/2 to 1 can of Wild Planet Tuna, and that’s it! The “juices” from the can actually act as a really great salad dressing (I swear!)

This makes a HUGE salad – about 500-600 calories depending on how much avocado, egg, and tuna you use. I couldn’t finish the whole thing!

For a lighter version, just omit the avocado and egg, and use half a can of tuna.

Here’s a pic of my “creation”:
